Dramatis Personae
The Cast of Characters & Dispatches
Hotspur (Henry Percy)
A hothead with a short temper who is at heart an adventurer and a fighter for justice. Though driven by raw conviction, he constantly finds himself tongue-tied at the precise moment he attempts to speak truth to consequence.
Little Booker (Gyorgi Kadeemah)
A whizz of a rush bicycle messenger who almost invariably appears wrapped in some distinct shade of blue. He emerges from an old and prominent family—vaguely Sephardic Jewish by origin—that traces its deep lineage back to the medieval traveler Benjamin of Tudela. Because of this ancestral weight, he is sometimes known across the pavement as the 'Tudelic Toodler'.
Dogon of Ephesus
A traditional librarian and chronicler deriving from an old, historic Eastern lineage—perhaps Ottoman Turkish by descent. He commands the archives and performs grueling simultaneous and in-line interpretation of at least five languages. This linguistic density has left him slightly mad; he constantly hears a chorus of historic voices echoing in his head.
Falscher Nick
A mysterious wanderer hailing from the riverlands. No living soul can ascertain if his sprawling stories are grounded in fact or fabrications. At the precise boundaries of twilight and morninglight, he shifts his form into a swallow, taking to the air on his distinct, swallow-tailed flyabouts.
Messenger Homie
The ultimate alter ego, chronicler of events, tireless letter writer, and dedicated campaigner for deeply quixotic causes. He tracks and chases Hotspur across changing territories—whether driven by pure love, deep artistic curiosity, or profound obsession, it remains difficult to untangle.
